Writer's block. It slithers up your fingers and coils around them and binds them. You can't write a word because writer's block has eaten up your ideas and has left nothing but a hollow whisper of what you were about to write. You were so determined when you were taking a shower today that you were going to write something.
You walk out and grabbed a towel, your head filled with ideas. When you finally get to the computer you found your ideas dried up. Your characters were weak and thirsty for motivation. Your shoulders drooped when something chuckled in your ear.
Writer's Block.
Hey, it happens to the best of us. You have writer's block and you don't know what to do about it. So you search the web for an answer and, EUREKA! You find my blog. Congrats. Now you want me to get rid of your writer's block. I rub my chin and think, well....... OK!
What is writer's block? It's a yucky invisible monster that feeds of your ideas.
So, how do you defend yourself from something that can't bee seen? You put on your armor, or in this case, you start typing.
The truth is writing isn't a specific thing. You don't have to be writing an adventure novel that your going to publish to be writing. Writing could just be writing a short story, a blog, a fan fiction or plain gibberish. In fact, just start typing about your day.
Here's an example:
My eyes opened up to bright sunlight and I groaned.
I turned over in bed but I was already wide awake.
The bright sunlight woke me up.
I sat up slowly and got up to brush my teeth......
Simple as that. Just keep writing until an idea comes. As you write, your mind starts to think that it's writing and soon it will.
In my next post, I'll write about timing, places, and music to listen to while writing.
